Round 28 - Killer Roller Coasters

This week the girls take aim at killer roller coasters...

This week the girls dive into roller coasters that have actually killed people. What caused these humble carnival rides to turn on their patrons and cause their doom? Tune in to find out!

But first, what were we drinking?

Sarah was drinking Filtered Water

Available from the kitchen tap

Amy was drinking Feet on the ground Pinot Grigio

Available from Naked wines

Bianca was drinking Mud house Savvy B

Available from Dan Murphys

Sarah opens with this week's topic and gives us some statistics on what the likely hood is that you will die on a roller coaster. She then chats about the number of deaths and injuries that have occurred at some of America's theme parks. She concludes her segment by discussing stories of deaths at Melbourne and Sydney's Luna Parks.

Bianca discussed the worst rollercoaster tragedy in American history; The Big Dipper. Then she went on to discuss a hypothetical coaster; The Euthanasia Coaster. Designed to humanly and pleasantly kill its passengers.

And as a special bonus, my daughter did give me permission to show the picture of her and me on the buzzsaw at Dreamworld.
Amy took aim at a ride that is not technically a roller coaster but interested her because she rode on this one with her family only months before the tragic incident which cost four people their lives. In this episode, Amy looks at the Thunder River Rapids Ride incident which occurred on the 25th of October 2016 at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast, Australia.

Round 27 - Real life Robin Hood

This week the girls take aim at real life Robin Hoods...

Ever wondered if Robin Hood was real or if the story was ever played out in real life by real people? If so, this is the episode for you! This week the girls discuss some tales of folks who have become known as a real-life Robin Hood.

But first, what were we drinking?

Sarah was drinking Buller Fine Muscat

Available from Dan Murphy's

Amy was drinking Left Hook Round One Rosé

Available from Naked wines

Bianca was drinking Nobel Fellows -Baron Betsy pinot gris

Available from BWS

Bianca opened with a shallow dive into whether Robin Hood was real or not... turns out no one really knows.

After that, she cracked into her real life, Robin Hood - Jacques René Mesrine. He lived an amazing life and petitioned for better conditions in the french prison systems.

Amy had planned on regaling our listeners with the tales of other Robin Hood types but came across the tale of Nakamura Jirokichi or better known as Nezumi Kozo (aka the Rat Kid). Rat Kid was a Japanese Robin Hood who, as the legend goes, stole from wealthy Samurai and gave to the poor. How much of this is true is questionable but it makes a great story.

Sarah ends the episode with the tale of Bulla Felix. Felix was a man who lived in ancient Rome who could have been the world's first recorded Robin Hood, but like so many vigilantes he had a not-so-happy ending.

Round 26 - Weird Guinness world records

This week the girls take aim at weird Guinness world record entries...

Sarah was drinking Cass Beer

Amy was drinking Jen Pfeiffer Sav Blanc

Available from Naked wines

Bianca was drinking her new favourite gin from Sarah

Amy introduced tonight's topic by telling our lovely listeners what the Guinness World Records are and how they were established. Amy then discussed her weird record she came across as being the most championship wins in a little-known "sport" called gurning.

Here are some pictures of people pulling off a gurn

The champion herself, Anne Woods

Sarah didn't do her homework so did a quick one on the most weight lifted with a human beard. The question is why?

Link to Sarah's fun fact - What were chainsaws invented for?

Bianca had just a few random ones she wanted to chat about;
  • Most apples held in their own mouth and cut with a chainsaw in one minute.
Wang Lei (China) in Dezhou, Shandong, China, on 30 November 2020

  • Most wins at the World Beard and Moustache Championship.
MIDDLE: Karl-Heinz Hille (Germany).

  • Not only does Australia have the largest camels in the world but we also have the most feral camels living in the wild. The camel population at last count was 750,000.

  • The world's first full-length feature film was The Story of the Kelly Gang, made in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia in 1906.

Round 25 - Hey! Watch this movie!

This week the girls take aim at each other and their movie choices...

This week the girls thought it would be fun to each pick a movie for another of the girls, which she has not seen, and see what they liked it and or hated about it. Yeah, it's going to get ugly fast...

But first, what were we drinking?

Sarah was drinking Corona Extra Beer

Available from Dan Murphy's

Amy was drinking Wiley Rooster Merlot

Available from Naked wines

Bianca was drinking water

Available from the kitchen

Sarah was given The Trial Of The Chicago 7 by Amy. This movie is based on true events that happened in 1968 and trial for crimes that allegedly occurred at the event in 1969. This is not the type of movie that she would normally watch but she found that she really got into it and enjoyed watching it.

Bianca was given Train to Busan by Sarah. Let's just say that Bianca LOVES zombie movies and tv. She considered this movie to be a knock-off of other movies she enjoys watching and didn't rate this film at all.

Amy was assigned the 2013 British movie About Time. This movie is a romantic comedy which is not something Amy normally watches. To Amy's surprise, she actually enjoyed it although got a bit stuck on the intricacies of time travel.
