Round 32 - Bermuda Triangle

This week the girls take aim at the Bermuda Triangle...

But first, what were we drinking?

Bianca was drinking Devils Corner Pinot Grigio

Available from BWS

Amy was drinking St Hugo's Chardonnay

Available from her Mum's pantry or Dan Murphys

Sarah was drinking Innocent Bystander Moscato

Available from Dan Murphy's

Amy introduced this week's topic by explaining where the Bermuda Triangle is located, why it is mysterious and some possible explanations as to the mysterious events which occur there.

Amy then discussed a case of a missing yacht that set sail with two people aboard in order to check out the Christmas lights around Miami. Spoiler alert, it was never heard from again.

Sarah fills the middle with the story of the mysterious disappearance of the USS Cyclops. This was a ship nearly 550 feet long, with a crew of 306 people and around 11,000 tons of manganese aboard that went missing on its voyage between Brazil and Boston.

Bianca ended the episode this week talking about the 210 feet schooner the Ellen Austin. What first drew her in was the unexplainable story of the cursed ghost ship that led them astray. Bianca also learned of the Ellen Austin's checkered past and felt y'all NEED to know. What happened? listen to the episode and find out!

(almost) All of Bianca's research for this topic was found on this website: Sometimes Interesting

Round 31 - Parenting Fails

This week the girls take aim at Parenting Fails...

If you are a parent you've been there. If not strap in for some lessons on how not to parent courtesy of our lovely co-hosts!

But first, what were we drinking?

Sarah was drinking Pepsi Max

Available from your local supermarket

Amy was drinking the Butterfly Effect Cabernet Merlot

Available from Naked wines

Bianca was drinking Brown Brothers - Cienna

Available from BWS

Sarah introduced us to this week's topic and told us of her failures (whoopsies) as a parent. Particularly, the times she let her daughter watch movies that may have not been suitable for her age.

Amy told the tale of the time she caved into her three-year-old and let her take on a massive toboggan run on her own. The hero of the story was a magical wonder snow beast! We call her Sarah.

Bianca told the tale of the time she let her then 4-year-old feed the grey birds... then the hell beast mother Swan came out of nowhere and welllll.... a picture says a thousand words...

Round 30 - 90s Movies: Girl Power

This week the girls take aim at 90s Movies: Girl Power...

90s girl power movies were stuff the girls thrived on when they were teenagers and wanted to share some of their favorites with everyone. This week tune in to hear the girls discuss three iconic movies which shaped their young minds...

But first, what were we drinking?

Sarah was drinking Brown Brothers Sparkling Moscato

Available from Dan Murphy's

Amy was drinking Boy meets Girl Pinot Grigio

Available from Naked wines

Bianca was drinking Midori Illusions & a single Pear Cider

Available from Everywhere!

Bianca opened with - What is the origin of “girl power”

In 1991, US punk band Bikini Kill published a feminist magazine or zine for those still stuck in the ’90s called Girl Power. The band's lead singer, Kathleen Hanna, said was inspired by the Black Power slogan. The term became popular in the early and mid 90s punk culture. Many bands used the term including; Welsh band Helen Love, with it appearing in the chorus of their 1992 song “Formula One Racing Girls”, and pop-punk duo Shampoo, who released an album and single titled Girl Power in 1995. From there the term became insanely popular when the spice girls used it as their main phrase.

When I think of movies from the ’90s that inspire women to be badass bitches I think of:

Thelma & Louise (1991)
Matilda (1995)
Mulan (1998)
10 Things I Hate About You (1999)
To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything! Julie Newmar (1995)
Buffy The Vampire Slayer (1992)
Tank Girl (1995)
Romy & Michele's High School Reunion (1997)
A League Of Their Own (1992)
The Craft (1996)
Sister Act (1992)
Spice World (1997)
Jawbreaker (1999)
Clueless (1995)
Now And Then (1995)
Mermaids (1990)
Fried Green Tomatoes (1991)

Then Bianca discussed her movie; If ever a movie proved that throwing like a girl is no insult, it was the 1992 quotable classic, A League of Their Own. The movie is about the real-life All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL) and is both fact and crap.

Amy chatted about one of her favourite movies from the 90s being Spice World. The pop girl group the Spice Girls was the living embodiment of the concept of Girl Power in the 90s. The movie plotline isn't great but it has an array of special guest stars as well as featuring some of the Spice Girls classic tracks.

Sarah talked about one of the most iconic "chick flicks" of the 90s, Thelma & Louise. She discussed the friendship between the two main characters and the adventures they have on a supposed fishing trip.

Round 29 - Aussie AF!

This week the girls take aim at what it means to be Aussie as f**k...

This week the girls wanted to honor their homeland and discuss some of the weird and wonderful things that make people think that's Aussie AF (As F*ck)!

But first, what were we drinking?

Sarah was drinking Somersby Blackberry Cider

Available from BWS

Amy was drinking Wiley Rooster Merlot

Available from Naked Wines

Bianca was drinking Zilzie Pinot Grigio

Available from Liquorland

Amy kicked us off tonight by describing what it means to be Aussie AF and then discussed some of the strange lingo Australians are known for.

Some examples include:

G’day = good day

Barbie = BBQ

Chunder = vomit

Dunny = toilet

Fair Dinkum = meaning it's real or true

Durry = cigarette

Bottle-o = bottle shop or liquor store

Daks = pants

Yakka = work

Shelia = woman

Tucker = food

Cobber = friend

Bonza = good (use this word more people!)

Relos = relatives

Bum nut = chicken egg (this was Amy's dads favourite along with holy snapping duck shit)

Bogan = which is our word for country folk, rednecks, or someone who is very Aussie but a bit backward

Woop woop  = which means in the middle of fuck knows where

Sarah enlightened everyone with the almost surreal story of the Great Emu War. This war was fought by the farmers and Australian military personnel... only to lose to the emus.

Bianca took aim at the very poor taste "sport" of dwarf-tossing. Dwarf tossing is a pub attraction in which people with dwarfism, wearing special padded clothing or Velcro costumes, are thrown onto mattresses or at Velcro-coated walls.

It is illegal or banned in a lot of developed counties. But, not in Straya! Laws may prohibit dwarf-tossing implicitly, but there are no explicit laws preventing a consenting dwarf from being 'tossed'.

So remember to get consent before you toss!
