Round 18 - What Superpower Do You Want? & Why?

This week the girls take aim at superpowers...

Ever thought about what superpower you would have if given the chance? I think we all have. Pour yourself a drink and have a listen to what powers the girls would have and why they would have them and see if yours are the same.     

But first, what were we drinking?

Bianca opened with a few examples of real-life superpowers and then cracked on to her segment telepathy. Turns out probs not going to be as fun as anticipated and she would probably just fuck off to the Himalayas away from society. After she helps Amy shave her murder floof, of course.

Amy then discussed her chosen power, telekinesis, the multiple applications it could have in everyday life, and what superheroes have these powers so you get an idea of what she wants to be able to do. Unfortunately, science is a thing so it's unlikely she is going to get the power to move things with her mind any time soon.

This is the Scarlet Witch from the Marvel franchise demonstrating her telekinesis powers.

Sarah ends with the wish of having the ability to control and create the four elements; Earth, Air, Fire, and Water (heart, go planet!). She was driven by the possibility of diverting or even stopping the devastation of natural disasters or maybe even creating one.

Round 6 - My Favourite Superhero

This week the girls took aim at Superheroes...

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it some poorly thought out wardrobe choices? Spoiler alert! it's all of the above. The girls chat about their favourite Superhero and some lesser-known homegrown "heroes". 

But first, what were we drinking?

Bianca opened by discussing three real-life superheroes from Australia...

The first is The Black Rat of Sydney - This superhero is a martial arts expert and wears a rat mask and knife proof black fabric outfit, but this is mostly for PR work.

Next, we have Captain Australia (or as Sarah calls him, At Man) - This vigilante is based in Brisbane. He wears a green and gold suit and a mask similar to Captain America with an @ symbol on his chest and a Batman-style utility belt holding a torch, mobile phone and video camera. 

Most weekends, the middle-aged father of two regularly patrols Fortitude Valley's seedier streets.
Captain Australia told the Courier Mail in an interview "being a hero isn't as glamorous as you might think''.

"There's no brooding on the edge of a skyscraper overlooking the city".

Lastly from our home city of Melbourne, we have the Fauna Fighters. This duo formed in 2012 their personas are the Flying Fox and Thylacine. They dress in what can only be described as super tight latex. Flying foxes' colours are black and red and Thylacine is black and yellow with a silver chest piece. They have no visible weapons or utility belts.

They raise awareness for animal rights, actively assisting various organizations in protests and petition drives.

With this hilarity out the way...

Bianca then launched into her favourite superhero, The Phantom.

We discovered The Phantom is the world's first superhero, a gentleman, a badass, and Bianca's first crush.

We also discovered Lee Falk the Phantom creator is the world champion at passive aggression (we all salute you, Mr Falk!).

Sarah talks about one of the most underrated superheroes out there; Aquaman. He first appeared in the 1940s and as everybody knows he can communicate with fish but that's not the thing he can do, he also has a quiet family life.

Amy, wearing her lasso of truth had no choice but to talk about her favourite superhero. Created in the 1940s and still an icon for many different groups is Amy's pick this week - Wonder Woman. 

Known for her incredible superhero abilities, her prominent position in the Justice League and some fairly interesting outfits over the years, Wonder Woman is a favourite of many since her inception into the realms of the comic book world. 

Amy is a bit of a simple human, so she didn't stray too far into what she calls the "nerd zone" but did provide listeners with the basic origins of Wonder Woman as well as a description of her powers and gadgets.
